Combined Graduate Level Examination

It is conducted for the various gazetted and non-gazetted posts of the Indian Government such as Assistants (CSS), Assistants in the other Central departments/ ministries, Inspector of post, Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub Inspectors, Income Tax Inspector, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Divisional Accountant, Auditor, Accountant/Junior Accountant, UDC, Tax Assistant, Sub Inspectors (Ex) in CPO’s, Statistical Investigators Grade II and Compilers.

The exam consists of objective questions and is conducted in three phases i.e. a written exam, main written exam and personality test/interview, except in the case of sub inspectors where the final round includes a medical examination/ physical endurance test. The candidates who successfully clear through the written exams are called for the final round, i.e. the Interview/Personality Test/ Skill Test.

Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Exam

This exam is conducted by SSC for those candidates who want to be recruited as Data Entry Operators and Lower Division Clerks in various government ministries. The candidates should be at least 10+2 pass from a recognized institute/university and their age should fall between 18-27 years.

The exam is conducted in two parts. The first part includes a written test while the second part includes a skill test. The candidates who qualify through the written exam are called for a skill test (in case of data entry operators) and a typing test (in case of lower division clerks). The typing test/ skill test is equally important to qualify as in the case of the written exam.

Central Police Organisation (Sub-Inspectors) Exam

Acronym as CPO (S.I), this exam is conducted on a national level by SSC (State Selection Commission) to recruit the aspiring candidates for the Sub-Inspectors post in the Central Government Police Organizations such as CRPF, ITBP, CBI, SSB, CISF, BSF and Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police.

The recruitment for the post of Sub-Inspector is done on the basis of two written exams, physical test and a personal interview. On clearing the first written test, the candidate’s second written test is conducted. After clearing the written tests, the qualifying candidates are called for a Physical Endurance Test, the qualifying candidates are called for the final round of selection, i.e. a personal interview. The selected candidates are included in the national merit list and are allotted the post of Sub-Inspector in various regions.

Junior Engineers (Civil & Electrical) Examination

The Junior Engineers (Civil & Electrical) Examination is conducted for those aspiring candidates whose age is less than 27 years and possesses a diploma/ degree in civil/ electrical/ mechanical engineering from a recognized Central government institute/ university. It is conducted in two phases, i.e. Phase I (written exam) and Phase II (interview/ personality test).

Junior Translators (CSOLS) Examination

This exam is for those candidates who are less than 30 years of age and possess a master’s degree in any stream with English and Hindi as compulsory/elective subjects or possess an experience of at least 2 years as an English/ Hindi translator. It is conducted in two phases, i.e. Phase I (written exam) and Phase II (interview/ personality test).

Statistical Investigators (SSS) Grade IV Examination

This exam is conducted by SSC to recruit investigators to the Group B and Group C non gazetted posts in the various government ministries/ departments. The candidates aspiring to be a part of this sector should fall between the age band of 21-26 years and must be a graduate with statistics/ maths/ economics as one of the main subjects. A candidate with at least some experience of data collection work and survey conducted with a basic understanding of computer applications is highly preferred. The selection process for this post involves two stages, a written exam and an interview.

Stenographers (Grade C & Grade D) Examination

This exam is conducted in two phases, i.e. written exam and stenography test. The candidates who qualify through the written exam are called for the stenography test depending on the cut off marks. The stenography test is an important phase that needs to be qualified for this job.

Tax Assistant Examination

This exam is conducted by SSC for the recruitment of aspiring candidates as tax assistants in the Central Excise and Income Tax departments. It is a highly recognized and prospective job career that requires awareness, knowledge and dedication. The exam is conducted in two phases, i.e. I & II. The first phase includes a written test while the second phase includes a skill test. The candidates who qualify both the levels are selected as tax assistants in the Income tax and Excise departments.
