In 1981, J.B.T. was introduced with 40 students for each alternative year, which ran up to 1985. Later, the J.B.T. course was halted and started again as E.T.T. (Elementary Teachers Training) in the year 1995 with the quantum of 40 students on the same pattern i.e. for each alternative year. In the year 2003, the 40 seats were increased up to 60 and in 2004 these were further extended to 100 seats per year till date

Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test
Punjab TET Recruitment – Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) conducts Teacher Eligibility Test to recruit the candidates for Teacher posts. Job seekers who wish to get a Govt Teaching Job in Punjab State are advised to apply for Punjab TET Recruitment on or before the last date. Please note, Punjab PSEB Teacher Eligibility Test is the minimum qualification required in Punjab for a person to be eligible for appointment as a Government teacher for Classes I to VIII. The Punjab TET selection process includes written exam and interview rounds to recruit the eligible and capable candidates. This PSTET Exam is conducted by the PSEB under the supervision of the State Council of Educational Research & Training, Punjab (SCERT). In Punjab TET two different papers are conducted:
- Paper I: For the recruitment of teachers from Classes I to V.
- Paper-II: For the recruitment of teachers from Classes VI to VIII.
Eligibility Criteria-For Primary Teachers (Classes I to V: Paper I) Applying individuals must have possessed Class 12th (or it is equivalent) or appearing in the final year of the Diploma (2 years) in Elementary Education Applying individuals need to secure minimum 50% marks in class 12th (or its equivalent examination) and or appearing in the final year of Bachelor degree (4 years) in Elementary Education
For Secondary Teachers (Classes VI To VIII: Paper-II) Applying individuals must have possessed graduation (or it is equivalent) or final year of the Diploma (2 years) in elementary education. Applying individuals need to obtain minimum 55% marks in class 12th (or its equivalent examination) and or appearing in 1 year of a Bachelor degree in B.Ed.
