IBPS Exam – Institute of Banking Personnel Selection
Banking is one of the most popular choices among those who are looking for a job as PO, clerk, manager, accountant and customer support executive. IBPS conducts various exams for the important posts in the banking sector such as Probationary Officers, Clerks and Specialist Officers. The basic procedure for this IBPS Exam involves three stages viz. common written test, interview and group discussion.
- Probationary Officers:- This cadre of officers keep a check on the working of the branch of a bank, including passing of cheques, marketing of bank products, evaluating loan proposals, etc.
- Clerks:- They perform the bank activities, including receiving and paying cash, opening and closing of accounts, imparting information regarding the bank services to the customers.
- Specialist Officers:- These include IT officers, Marketing officers, Chartered Accountant, Agricultural Field Officers, Rajbhasha Adhikari, HR, Law officers, Technical officers and Financial Executive. These form an important part of a bank and has specific roles to perform.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is an autonomous Indian organization which caters to the various financial and non-financial institutions, corporations, government departments and state-owned companies, in the selection and recruitment of the deserving candidates as employees in these organizations. The public sector banks, NABARD, RBI, SIDBI, Regional Rural Banks and several educational institutions have tie-ups with IBPS for the recruitment and selection process.
IBPS PO Exam
It is a common written examination, which is held annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection for the recruitment of the candidates as Probationary Officers/ Management Trainee in some specific public sector banks. The willing candidate age should fall between 20-30 years. The SC/ ST/ OBC candidates can enjoy age limit relaxation as per the rules. The candidate must be a citizen of India/ Nepal/ Bhutan. For taking the IBPS PO Exam, the candidate must be a graduate from a recognized institute/ university.
The IBPS PO Recruitment Exam consists of two steps, i.e. written test and group discussion/ personality test. The written exam includes the objective test and descriptive paper. The qualifying candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview.
IBPS Clerk Exam
It is a common written examination, which is held by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection for the recruitment of the candidates as Clerks in some specific public sector banks. The willing candidate age should fall between 20-28 years. The SC/ST/OBC candidates can enjoy age limit relaxation as per the rules. The candidate must be a citizen of India/Nepal/Bhutan. For taking IBPS Clerk Exam, the candidate must be a graduate from a recognized institute/university, should have a diploma/ degree in a computer language/operations/information technology and should be proficient in the state official language.
The IBPS Clerk Recruitment Exam consists of two steps, i.e. written test and interview/ group discussion. The written exam includes an objective test. The objective test covers various sections of Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge.
IBPS RRB Exam
RRB (Regional Rural Banks) is the co-operative/gramin banks that have been established to cater to the financial needs and the banking services to the rural population residing in the remote areas. The supervising body of the RRB’s i.e. NABARD, has given the authority to IBPS for the recruitments in these small institutions. This recruitment process only includes a written exam. The interview part of the hiring process is done by the banks themselves.
IBPS conducts the RRB exam for four posts, including RRB Assistant and RRB Officer (Scale I, II, III). The candidates who successfully qualify in the written exam are called by the Regional Rural Banks for the interview whenever the vacancies are available.
IBPS Specialist Officer Exam
It is a common written examination, which is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection for the recruitment of the candidates as Specialist Officers in some specific public sector banks. The list of these Specialist Officers include I.T. Officer (Scale-I), Agricultural Field Officer (Scale I), Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale I), Law Officer (Scale I), Technical Officer (Scale I), HR/ Personnel Officer (Scale I), Marketing Officer (Scale I), I.T. Officer (Scale-II), Law Officer (Scale II), Chartered Accountant (Scale II) and Finance Executive (Scale II).
