CSIR UGC NET June 2020 – Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has released an official notification of National Eligibility Test i.e UGC NET to determine the eligibility of the candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. The application process for CSIR NET is open and the last date to apply is 15th May 2020 (11:50 PM).

CSIR NET detailsThe Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint CSIR-UGC NET in CBT mode to NTA. Joint CSIR UGC NET is a test being conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals ‘for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC. The interested candidates can check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.

Candidates must ensure that they meet the following CSIR UGC NET Eligibility Criteria before applying for the exam. It is necessary to meet all eligibility conditions i.e. nationality, age limit, and educational qualification. Check detail explanation of eligibility here.

Eligibility Criteria for CSIR NET
NationalityCandidate must be citizen of India
Age Limit(i) For JRF, the maximum age is 28 years as on 1st January 2020. ({upper age limit may be relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PwD)/ female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants
(ii) No upper age limit for Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor.
Qualification (i) M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B.Tech/ B.Pharma/ MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/ General-EWS and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.
(ii) Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying exam as on the last date of online application submission, are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) Category.
(iii) B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-Ph.D Program are also eligible to apply.
(iv) Candidates possessing only Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship and not for Lecturership. They will be eligible for fellowship only after getting registered/ enrolled for Ph.D./ Integrated Ph.D. program within the validity period of two years.
(v) Ph.D degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991 with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/ Assistant Professor only.

During CSIR NET 2020 online application, candidates need to pay the Non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000/-. All OBC-NCL candidates have to pay Rs. 500/-  and SC/ ST candidates have to pay Rs. 250/-. PWD candidates are exempted from the payment of application fee.
