Agricultural Research Services (ARS) Examination by ASRB
The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) conducts ARS exam for recruiting entry-level scientists for research in agriculture, animal husbandry, home science, agroforestry, fisheries and allied sciences, i.e. in the agriculture research services under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It is an online exam which is of qualifying nature. It includes 2 types of written exams i.e. prelims (computer-based exam) and mains (conventional paper), followed by an interview. The candidates can appear for the exam only four times.
The ARS preliminary is an online, objective type exam of 150 marks including multiple-choice questions based on the selected subjects/ disciplines. The total time allotted for the exam is 2 hours and in case of a wrong answer, 1/3 marks of that particular question would be deducted. The ARS mains is a descriptive paper-based exam of 240 marks including questions in the form of three sections which are A, B & C. The candidates need to attempt all the questions from the three parts. Upon qualifying both the written exams, the candidates are entitled to an interview by a team of experts from the respective discipline to check the knowledge, general abilities, mental alertness and several other factors required for the post.
ASRB Administrative Officers Exam
ASRB conducts exams for the posts of Administrative Officers, Assistants, Account Officers, Scientists, Assistant Professors/ Lecturers and Finance Officers. ASRB conducts examination for the recruitment of administrative officers in ICAR institutes and headquarters. It includes 2 papers i.e. Paper I (objective) and Paper-II (descriptive) and at last followed by a structured interview. Paper I includes objective type questions of total 200 marks. The questions are divided into four sections viz. A, B, C & D. The total time allotted for the paper is 2 hours. Paper-II includes descriptive type questions of total 300 marks. The questions are divided into three sections viz. A, B & C. The total time allotted for the paper is 3 hours. Upon qualifying the two phases of written exams, the candidates are entitled to a structured interview/ personality test of 100 marks. This interview is conducted to check the candidate’s aptness for the post by testing his/ her understanding of the subject, general awareness, aptitude, suitability and knowledge of computers.
ASRB Assistant Examination
ASRB conducts examination for the recruitment of assistants in ICAR institutes and headquarters. It is an online exam which includes 2 papers i.e. Paper I (prelims) and Paper-II (descriptive). Paper I includes 100 objective type questions of 200 marks based on General Knowledge, General Mental Ability, English Comprehension and Quantitative Analysis. Each section comprises of 25 questions of 50 marks. All the sections would be bilingual i.e. both in English & Hindi except for English Comprehension. The total time allotted for the exam is 2 hours. Paper-II includes descriptive questions of 200 marks based on General Knowledge, English Language & Comprehension, Essay/Paragraphs, General Mental Ability & Quantitative Analysis. Each section is of 50 marks.
ASRB Finance & Account Officers Exam
ASRB conducts examination for the recruitment of finance and account officers in ICAR institutes and headquarters. For the exam, individuals need to possess certain eligibility standards. The candidate is required to be a graduate in at least a three-year degree course from a recognized institute/ university with at least 55% marks. The candidate is also required to possess a specialization at post-graduation level in Accounting/ Commerce/ Finance or a professional qualification of CA/ CS/ ICWA. It includes 2 papers i.e. Paper I (objective) and Paper-II (descriptive) and at last followed by a structured interview. Upon qualifying the two phases of written exams, the candidates are entitled to a structured interview/ personality test of 100 marks. This interview is conducted to check the candidates aptness for the post by testing his/ her understanding of the subject, general awareness, aptitude, suitability and knowledge of computers.
ASRB NET – National Eligibility Test
The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board conducts NET to recruit Assistant Professor/ Lecturer in the State as well as other Agricultural Universities. It is an online exam which is of qualifying nature. It includes only one type of multiple-choice computer-based exam. The candidates can appear for the exam only five times. To appear for the exam, the candidates need to fulfil certain eligibility standards. The candidate must be of Indian origin. Should be a minimum of 21 years of age (no upper age limit). Should uphold a masters degree in the respective discipline with specialization (the detail of the disciplines along with qualifications is mentioned along with the exam notification). ARS NET is an online, objective type exam of 150 marks, including 150 multiple choice questions based on the selected subjects/ disciplines.
