Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission – HPPSC Notification 2019

Being an independent and impartial Constitutional Authority, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission was set up under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. Like other State Public Service Commissions, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission also conducts examinations for the recruitment to state services and advise the State Government on all matters relating to framing of Recruitment and Promotion Rules, principles to be followed in making appointments, promotion and transfer from one service to another and in respect of disciplinary matters affecting Civil Servants. At present direct recruitment of Class-I & Class-II posts of different departments is done by the Commission.

HPPSC Recruitment – HPPSC What’s New?

Different methods of recruitment followed by the HPPSC for selecting suitable candidates for different category of posts are as under:

Recruitment through examination followed by viva-voce: This method of recruitment covers written examination and viva-voce. Merit list is prepared on the basis of the written examination and viva-voce. The services for which such examinations are conducted are as under:

  • Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services etc. Examination (HPAS)
  • Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services (HPJS)
  • H.P. Subordinate Allied Services
  • State Forest Services (HFS)
  • Naib Tehsildar
  • Forest Rangers

Recruitment through examination: The Departmental candidates are put into examination for such posts as are received by the Commission from different HP Government Departments. The Examinations as being conducted by the Commission for various Category of Posts are as under State Accounts Services (O.B.) – S.A.S.-OB

  • State Accounts Services (L.A.D.) – S.A.S.-L.A.D.
  • The candidates are selected on the basis of merit of written examination

Recruitment through interview preceded by screening test: This method of recruitment covers Screening Test and Interview. Candidates who qualify in the screening test are called for interview. This method is followed for selecting candidates for the following types of posts:

  • Medical Officer (General Wing)
  • Medical Officer (Dental)
  • College Cadre Lecturers
  • Asstt. Engineers (Civil/ Electrical/ Mechanical) of different departments/ Board
  • Asstt. District Attorney (A.D.A.)
  • District Public Relation Officer/Asstt. Public Relation Officer (D.P.R.O./A.P.R.O.)
  • Any other post(s)

Recruitment through an interview without conducting screening test: Where the no. of candidates are less in comparison to the number of vacant posts, the candidates are directly called for interview and selected on merit basis. This method is adopted for selecting candidates for the following categories of posts:

  • Asstt. Professors of different faculties in Medical / Dental Colleges
  • Director Sainik welfare
  • Deputy Director Sainik Welfare
  • Commandant Home Guard
  • Any other post(s)
