Aeronautical Engineering Branch:- If you have completed your Engineering Degree in Electronics or Mechanical stream with 60% marks, then you are eligible to join this branch as an Officer. Both men and women having age between 20 to 26 years can join this branch and get Permanent Commission (for men) and Short Service Commission (for men and women). Candidates below the age of 25 years should not be married. IAF releases advertisements for AFCAT in the months of June and December.
Flying Branch:- Candidates can join this branch through 3 ways i.e. Combined Defence Services Examination (for men only), NCC Special Entry (for men only) and Short Service Commission (for men and women). They must be Graduate in any discipline or should have BE/ B.Tech degree and have age between 20 to 24 years. You are trained as a Fighter pilot or a Helicopter pilot or a Transport pilot and are part of various peace and wartime missions.
Ground Duty Branches:- One can join as an Officer in any of the Ground Duty Branches namely Administration, Accounts, Logistics, Education and Meteorology. Candidates having a Graduate/ Postgraduate Degree in any discipline, B.Com, M.A, M.Sc, MBA, MCA, etc. can join one of these branches and can get Permanent Commission (for Men)/ Short Service Commission (for Men & Women).
Air Force Vacancy 12th Pass – IAF Recruitment
12th Pass candidates can join the Indian Air Force by applying for NDA (National Defence Academy) Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India. Only Indian National Male having age between 16½ to 19½ years can apply for this exam. They must have passed 12th with Physics and Mathematics. After the initial selection procedure, shortlisted candidates go through a strict 3-year training regimen at the NDA at Khadakwasla followed by specialized training at one of the training establishment. Following that, they are Commissioned as Permanent Commission Officers and posted as pilots at any of the Air Force Stations.
Selection Procedure for Air Force Careers – Air Force Online Form
Generally, the selection process for the Indian Air Force Career includes Written Test, SSB (Services Selection Board) Testing and Medical Examination. The SSB Testing includes Officer Intelligence Rating Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Test, Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview. A merit list is prepared on the basis of performance in Written Test and SSB Interview.
