In the case of Pre Primary School Teachers, the candidate must be Graduate with minimum 50% aggregate marks. The candidate should have undergone some training from the vocational training centres/ Montessori training schools. In the case of Primary School Teachers, the candidate should uphold a bachelor’s/ master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks along with a diploma/ degree (B.Ed) in teaching. In the case of Senior Secondary School Teachers, the candidate should uphold a master’s degree with a Bachelors of Education (B.Ed). In the case of Lecturers, the candidate should uphold a post-graduation degree in the required subject from a recognized Indian University and should have cleared the eligibility test (NET) conducted by UGC.
In the case of Professors, the candidate should be at least 10 years experienced in teaching at the post-graduation level and the candidate must be a part of the research work. Other than B.Ed, Diploma in Education (D.Ed) and Teachers Training Certificate (TTC) are the two other minimum levels of certification. To enhance the prospects of promotion, one can go for a Masters in Education (M.Ed) degree, M.Phil and Ph.D.
TET Exam – Application for Teaching Job
Teachers Eligibility Tests are the first step to get a job in government schools. Every state conducts TET to recruit government teachers. On the other hand, NET/ SLET/ CLET is conducted to recruit lecturers and professors. The SLET is conducted in English in all states in India. States opted to conduct their own test, i.e. State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for lectureship only. Candidates who qualify the TET EXAM are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer.
CSIR, New Delhi conducts the Joint CSIR – UGC Test for the Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) NET and appointment for Lecturer (NET).
